Is It Hard To Overcome Depression?

An Inquiry: I know depression is hard to get rid of. Any tips on how to do it?

How We Would Respond: Depression is quite common, but we don’t necessarily agree with the notion that depression is hard to get rid of. Getting clear of depression is as simple as changing thinking patterns.

If a depressive would do one thing, and one thing only, their depression would improve considerably. That one thing is this: end the habit of considering their thinking to be truth.

Depression happens when we accept negative thinking, and even more specifically negative judgment, to be true. When you accept negative judgment that comes into your awareness as the truth, you will have a painful emotional reaction — it is inevitable.

If, on the other hand, you do not accept negative judgment that comes into your awareness as truth your emotional responses will be far, far more subdued. Translation: you will not suffer nearly as much.
