An Inquiry: How do you deal with a depressed romantic partner?
How We Would Respond: Our suggestion would be to express your care and concern for them and their well-being, and to suggest resources that might be of help to them. Realistically what more can one do beyond this? You could, conceivably, try to force them into some type of therapeutic environment but this would likely meet with resistance.
What we would not do is to dwell upon an image of them as depressed or somehow in crisis. This reinforces a notion of them as debilitated which they really are not — they are part of a divine lineage and have, mistakenly, bought into a perspective of themselves as lacking something.
This is a false image. They were created whole and divine, and lacking nothing. We would not support, through our outlook, any minimizing false image they hold of themselves.
